Specialist Scaffolding for a Landmark Glasgow Mural
M8 Scaffolding was asked by Global Street Art, working with the Scottish FA, to provide scaffolding at short notice for the creation of a large mural featuring Scotland captain Scott McTominay.
The mural was being painted on the gable end of a building directly overlooking Hampden Park in Glasgow, making it a particularly high-profile project in the run-up to its completion.
The scaffold had to provide the artist with safe and practical access across the full height and width of the wall, allowing the mural to be painted accurately while work progressed at different levels.
Because of the size and configuration of the scaffold, it was necessary to drill and tie the structure into the building. Particular care was therefore taken to install and test the scaffold ties correctly while minimising disruption to the wall surface.
The dismantling process also had to be carefully coordinated with the artist. As the scaffold was progressively removed, sufficient access had to remain available for the fixing points to be filled and painted, leaving the completed mural with a clean finish.
Despite the short lead time and the additional considerations involved, all scaffolding work was completed safely and on schedule.
