Safe roof access while keeping a busy refurbishment site moving
Some scaffolding jobs stay exactly as planned.
This one didn’t.
M8 Scaffolding was brought in by Complete Roofing Services for work at the former Scotmid store on Old Edinburgh Road in Tannochside, Lanarkshire, which is being converted into a new Aldi store.
The original plan included roof edge protection to the upper roofs, scaffold access to the rear of the building and a HAKI stair system to give contractors safe access to roof level.
Then the job evolved.
With several contractors working around the building at the same time, parts of the scaffold had to be altered and suspended so pedestrians could continue to pass safely underneath. Brick guards were also installed to reduce the risk of tools or materials falling from the working areas above.
Ground-level access created another challenge.
In certain areas we used scaffold beams to create clear spans below the structure, allowing skips to be moved in and out while groundworks continued without the scaffold getting in the way. That sort of coordination matters.
On busy refurbishment projects, scaffolding has to work around everyone else on site rather than become another obstacle. M8 works closely with contractors throughout the job, adjusting the scaffold where required while keeping safe access and high working standards in place.
Simple enough in theory. Less so when the site is changing around you.
